There are some great places to eat such as N.S.oldest pub The Focsile tavern, Kiwi Cafe and White's Gate fine dining. The village has some very unique shops such as Chez Glass, Light my fire and the Emporium shop. Also the village offers beauty salons, a bank and the famous Chester playhouse. On the other end of the road is the grocery store and n.s.liquor commission. Located 5 minutes away by car is the Chester golf course which has a fabulous restaurant and beautiful view of the islands and ocean.
