Summary: Four adults and a little dog thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay here and hated to leave. Of many VRBO rentals taken this may be our all-time favorite – a true GEM. The owners Claudia & Christian were first point of contact after the visual appetizer of the posting photos, and they could not have been more responsive, accommodating or helpful. This villa is not a typical rental property but instead their beloved home and an historic treasure of the greater La Malbaie community. The 1893 property is simply amazing to experience. It is well maintained, lovingly restored; the photos under-represent the spaciousness, quality workmanship and charm of days of past. The systems are updated and furnishings both original and new are lovely and flow with the period. Fast Wi-Fi and satellite TV technology are there if you want, but curling up in the library with a book or sitting on the huge wraparound deck looking out over the bay makes one forget about those. Kitchen is fully functional and not missing anything; there is gas stove inside and lovely grill on deck along with all the other small appliances. A downstairs powder room is convenient to all and two full baths upstairs feature large walk-in showers with multi head shower panel systems to enjoy and ease any woes of the day. Upstairs master and additional bedrooms are huge with large windows, views, and nearby balcony. Mattresses throughout and linens are all quality and plentiful. A first-floor bedroom was recently created and much appreciated to accommodate a guest with need to limit stairs. The indoor common areas (dining room, library, living room, bar) and the outside wraparound deck & balcony provide so many options to disburse for quiet alone time or gatherings of all sizes. Deck flooring is new and impressive square footage - deep and running the full length of this large villa. One main set of table and chairs made for great dining al fresco and other smaller seating arrangements provide rest in/out of the sun/shade above ground level or spilling out onto the lawn or gardens. Overall, we loved taking a step back in time to enjoy this lovingly cared for historic home in an idyllic spot. While we ventured out in all directions to explore the greater Charlevoix region (with many great recommendations from the owners), the best part of everyday was coming ‘home’ to rest here at night and waking up in what surely is a piece of heaven!
