Enjoy the creature comforts in this spacious guesthouse, located in a picturesque setting, minutes from Otsego Lake. This award-winning and newly restored Mid-Century Modern getaway offers all modern conveniences and a beautiful natural landscape to relax in or explore.
The guesthouse and adjacent residence, designed in 1965/1963 have recently been placed on the state and national historic registers and were featured inArchitectural Record Houses of 1967and House Beautiful, 1965. The private grounds offer woodlands, fields, a pond, hidden streams, and lush vistas of the countryside.
The Robert Woodruff Outdoor Learning Center, across the road, includes a 1.5 mile hiking trail, waterfalls, caves and a swimming spot. An outdoor swimming pool with lifeguard, is adjacent the Learning Center at the Owen D. Young School. It is open to the public during the summer.
We are approx. 15 minutes to the Glimmerglass State Park lakefront beach and The Glimmerglass Festival, and a short drive to Cooperstown along the scenic lake road.

Summary: This is a very nice house in a very picturesque location conveniently located for our itinerary of Cooperstown in own direction and several towns in the opposite direction. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Added personal touches: a charming country floral bouquet and begonia plant in the living area were lovely. Upon learning that my grandsons liked board games, several were placed in the house for us. An endless Monopoly game entertained them during our stay.Why four stars for accuracy of the listing? The only somewhat negative thing I would say is that the kitchen is apparently an afterthought and challenging for any serious cooking. It is tiny and the photos don't show that the refrigerator is under the staircase in the living area outside of the kitchen. Equipment is minimal and some is stored on the second level up the same staircase that the refrigerator sits under. Also, "across the road" is somewhat misleading as to the location of the pool and nature trail at the Woodruff Learning Center. No mention is made of the very long driveway from the house to the road. This was one of the attractive features that made me choose this house. Nevertheless it was worth the little trip to get to it. Overall, this is one of the best VRBO properties I've rented.
